A rainbow of flavors!
Table sets and portables were produced in a wide variety of shapes, styles, and colors. They were made of wood, metal, plastic, Bakelite, and some even with leather coverings. Many models were offered in a variety of colors to fit the decor of any room. Screen sizes could be from 3" to 21".

1959 Philco Predicta "Princess"
The Princess is the smallest of the Philco Predictas. This table top set has a 17 inch swivel picture tube on top of a metal cabinet. I find this set to be somewhat of a pain to work on due to the way the chassis is crammed into the cabinet. |

1959 Sylvania Dualette
This funky-fifties design by Sylvania was called "Dualette" because it came with dual speakers. This set could also be bought with a clock and timer. I believe it was offered in three colors. I have seen another example of this set in pink.

1958 Magnavox
This little Magnavox was very clean and worked great when I found it. Other than a few tubes, everything on the chassis is original and untouched. |

1950 Philco
This 1950 Philco set has a 10" picture tube. I haven't had time to play with this set, so I have no idea of the condition of the chassis or tube. I'll get around to it one of these days.
Philcos such as this one are quite common and very easy to find. There was also another version of this set made with a square top instead of a rounded top.

1950's Zenith
Although I haven't looked up the model on this Zenith, I believe it to be from the late-50's. These are commonly referred to as Zenith "bug-eye" sets. |

1959 Travler
This set was built extremely simple. Was probably quite cheap compared to many others at the time. The cabinet is metal with a vinal-like covering.

1950 General Electric 10T1
This 1950 GE has a 10" picture tube. Case is made of Bakelite and very art-deco looking. This set needs new capacitors, which I'll change out later on. The CRT tests excellent. |
